A Tradition of Excellence Since 1794

For more than 200 years, The Rochester Corporation has been providing its customers with the highest quality products. The company, founded in 1794, was initially a manufacturer of ropes made of manila and other fibers. By the early 1900s, however, Rochester had expanded its operations with the production of steel ropes. The company has since evolved into a world leader in the design and manufacture of electro-optical cables intended for a vast array of applications.

The Rochester Corporation currently maintains a state-of-the-art 400,000 square foot (37,000 square meter) facility located in Culpeper, Virginia, USA. This manufacturing facility houses a wide variety of mechanical, electrical, optical, and environmental testing capabilities, as well as its own wire drawing mill which affords the comapny the highest quality carbon steel wire available.

In September 1996, The Rochester Corporation became a subsidiary of Tyco International Limited. Tyco, a diversified manufacturer and service company, is the world's largest manufacturer and installer of fire protection systems, the largest provider of electronic security services, the largest manufacturer of flow control valves, and has strong leadership positions in disposable medical products, plastics and adhesives, electrical and electronic components and underwater telecommunications systems. The company operates in more than 100 countries around the world.

The Rochester Corporation strives to mix the best of the old with the best of the new. A traditional work ethic, established by the company in the 1700s, in conjunction with modern technology, employed by the company today, combine for quality service and a reliable product.
